Metal Braces
Metal braces are the most common. They are made of high grade stainless steel. Today”s braces are much smaller and more comfortable. Therefore they are much more attractive. Most of the patients like to dress up the braces with different color elastics that can be changed at each appointment. Multiple colors are available.
Damon Brackets
Damon braces were invented by an orthodontist, Dr. Dwight Damon. This type of bracket utilizes (sliding door) technology known as “self ligation” that allows the wire to slide back and forth within the bracket. No elastic of steel ties are needed for these types of braces. This creates less friction and can result in more comfort for the patient. In addition, Damon braces cuts down on the treatment time and the number of adjustments that need to be performed.
Ceramic Braces

Invisalign
Invisalign is the clear way to straighten teeth without braces, using Aligners. Aligners are made of a clear, thin medical-grade polymer that is virtually invisible when worn. It works using adcanced 3-D computer imaging technology to project tooth movement, Invisalign creates a series of clear, custom-made Aligners taht gradually move your teeth. You wear eacg Aligner for about two weeks, moving to the next set, until your teeth are straight. Aligners should be worn day and night, except when eating, brushing or flossing. Aligners adjust the teeth incrementally over two week periods, therefore any soreness is mild and subsides within a few days. In contrast, other appliances may require more forceful and painful changes because adjustment are only made at each appointment.
The benefits of Invisalign are:
- Nearly invisible–You can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing.
- Removable–You can still eat and drink what you want.
- Better Oral Hygiene–You can brush and floss normally to maintain healthy gums and teeth.
- Comfortable–There are no wires, metal or brackets to cause mouth abrasions.
Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are custom made fixed braces where the brackets are cemented onto the backside of the teeth making them invisible to other people. Lingual braces are a cosmetic alternative to those who do not wish to have the unaesthetic metal look but wish to improve their smile.
